This is still in testing on a few dataservers.. The majority of dataservers still have original results.. While this update has significantly helped me and some of my clients rankings, I’m not sure if it will stand the test of time.. Users are provided with almost too much information making the flow of the SERP too busy.

In your example, you are not an actual local brick and mortar that customers visit? I believe local results should direct users to brick and mortar locations that are open for business..not, directories or other online results as this opens up too much room for spam.

Distraction, as you rightly said is one of the biggest usability issues with this implementation. Instead of decreasing those milliseconds, I think it actually increases them as you tend to look below to see what is happening in the results pane.

I though do not agree with your point number 2 on Adwords. The impression doesn’t counts till after 3 seconds of pause or if the searcher clicks somewhere on the page.

I like your blog. Haven’t read your ebook though, but I am sure it rocks.

I loved this article. Why because I’m a buyer, not a seller and everything you said in that article I’ve done. I always compare total price, if it’s too expensive I look locally. The other dimension though is speed of delivery, witness Amazon Prime. Sometimes I’l take a price nick to “get it by thursday”.

My only problem is with Myth 7.

Nofollow links can help, but most people will think that means comment spam will do the job. I’ve seen nofollow links in content providing plenty of domain authority to the target site and improving its ranking for the keyword, but placement on the page plays a part.

In the end, if you’re exclusively depending on nofollow links, you also need to back that up with good site content, more so then with dofollow links.

Danny I had a client dev team tell me that that they read from Google that search engines ignore anything after a questions mark! I basically just laughed my ass off and told him he was wrong .. classic dev team crap!

Danny,

Great post man. I see a lot of people trying to shortcut the system. Sure you want to outsource, but only the things that you dont like to do yourself and are not directly related to your results and long term success.

I made the mistake of allowing someone access to my blog to do some graphics adjustments and they messed it up big time and could not fix it.

Needless to say I didn’t pay them and a day later I was missing 6 months worth of content. I contacted my hosting company and it cost me $200 to retrieve the data.

Always be in control of your master controls.
